#1 - De eerste stap naar un(beads)able waxzegels

#1 - The first step towards un(beads)able wax seals

Hi there!

Welcome to JessyAtSea's very first tips & tricks blog! The name says it all; in this blog, I will teach you the ins and outs of making seals. We will go beyond the standard instructions so that you too can become an expert in no time!

Are you new to the world of wax sealing? Then read our step-by-step instructions first. Already familiar with the basics? Then it's time for our first tip!

The perfect tealight 🕯️

Before you start making seals, choose a tea light to place in your oven. You don't want the flame of your tea light to touch the spoon, so I recommend using a tea light that you have already lit before. This will lower the flame and prevent your spoon from turning black. If you only have new tea lights at home, choose one with a burning time of 4 hours and let it burn for 25 minutes before using it to make seals.

In the meantime, you can start selecting your wax stamps and sealing wax colours!

The ideal wax temperature 🌡

Once the perfect tea light is burning in your oven, it is important to focus on the temperature of the wax. You want to pour the wax at exactly the right moment so that your seal looks perfect.

The perfect moment? About two minutes after you have placed the wax beads in the cold spoon.

The wax is too cold when: ❄️

  • There are still hard pieces visible in the wax.

  • You cannot stir the wax with a skewer.

  • You dip a skewer into the wax, pull it up in a long string, and the wax solidifies immediately.

The wax has become too hot if: 🔥

  • The wax in the spoon starts to smoke.

  • Bubbles appear in the wax. 🫧

  • The wax is as liquid as water.

❗️The perfect wax consistency is similar to syrup

Will your next stamps be even more beautiful with these tips? I'm very curious! Will you share the results with us on social media?

Next time, I'll tell you all about different pouring methods. Because that also influences the creation of an un(beads)able wax seal!

Have fun making beautiful wax seals!

Love,

Jessy
